As your elected Council Member, I work for YOU, the residents of District 14!

Since I was elected in 2021, my office has been hard at work bringing jobs and investment to our district, securing additional funding for our public schools and community spaces, and providing assistance to those in need. If elected for another term, I will continue fighting every day for District 14 – that’s a promise!

    Reinvesting in Our Community

    Our people are our district’s greatest resource, Pierina is laser focused on reinvesting in our people for our mutual success.

    In her first year, Pierina delivered on:

    Community Partnership
    • Served over 3,000 constituents with housing assistance, applying for benefits, accessing legal resources and providing referrals
    • Launched Kingsbridge Armory Community Working Group including $5M investment for Kingsbridge Armory remediation 
    • Brought thousands of neighbors together for an Easter egg hunt, summer block parties and a fall festival
    • Hosted book fairs with New Alternatives for Children at Bean Morris Garden and PS 315 the Lab School
    • Remembered our community heroes, co-named for Sylvester Royer Corner on 193rd & Creston Ave, Thomasins Bushby on Harrison & Burnside and Angellyh Yambo Way
    Citywide Legislation and Capital Investment in Our Community
    • Passed the first ever bill in the New York City Council extending renter protections, and co-sponsored and passed 60 bills for a more equitable NYC
    • Allocated more than $25M to upgrade our schools, build a new community center and start the remediation of the Kingsbridge Armory

    Education & Youth Justice

    Every child deserves access to a quality public education and enrichment programs.

    In her first year, Pierina delivered on:

    • Visited district schools and parent associations to listen to parent concerns
    • Invested $35,000 in the expansion of free Children’s Arts & Science after school programming at PS 310
    • Established soccer programming for the first time at PS 91 with Uptown Soccer
    • Expanded Chess in Schools programming across multiple schools

    Housing is a Human Right

    Every one of us deserves to live in and even own a stable and healthy home.

    In her first year, Pierina delivered on:

    Legal Services
    • Designated $25,000 to Legal Aid Society to support tenant organizing and legal advocacy
    • Provided more than 200 Housing consultations with CUNY Legal services lawyers, including access to a FREE biweekly housing lawyer and two weekly citizenship lawyers, assisting more than 150 individuals with citizenship applications
    Food Security
    • Funded food pantry access throughout the district
    • Directly distributed over 2,500 bags of food and over 3,000 turkeys during the Thanksgiving Holiday

    Safe Communities through Opportunity

    Every family should feel safe in their neighborhood.

    In her first year, Pierina delivered on:

    Public Safety
    • Deepened investment in Cure Violence organizations that focus on interrupting cycles of violence through a $50,000 investment in their programs
    • Funded community outreach activities of the 46th, 50th, and 52nd Community Councils
    Quality of Life
    • Removed 30+ abandoned cars that were parked along Jerome Ave
    • Increased manual litter pickup service and purchased additional trash baskets
    • Added stop sign to 181 Street & Aqueduct Walk
    • Got over two dozen lights restored across the community, funded increased lighting around the Kingsbridge lighting
